no he wasn't
The most loveable uncle of the Prophet Muhammed is Abu Talib.
Most Sunni's say he died without being a Muslim. They even state that Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said " Oh lord, if your going to put my uncle Abu Talib into hell fire, i am praying to you to put him on the most least level so that he don't suffer a lot of pain" (they say prophet prayed because his beloved uncle Abu Talib died without baring witness that Mohammad (pbuh) was God's indeed messenger and that there is no God but Allah) And when we look at it on the Shia's view of point, They state that Abu Talib did indeed say the Kalima (bared witness) and in order to still protect the Prophet (pbuh) he had to hide it so that the Quraish doe's not harm him. That's why we get the answer stating that Abu Talib did indeed still protected him till he passed away. My personal opinion will be choice of Shia's thought of school. As it suits it's context more based to the history.
The Prophet Muhammad's uncle was Abu Talib. His father, and thus The Prophet's grandfather was Abdul Muttalib.
Abu Talib was the uncle of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Father of Imam Ali (peace be upon him and his family) aka Ali Ibn Abu Talib meaning Ali son of Abu Talib. He was a full brother of Prophet Mohammad's father and protected Prophet Mohammad from his early childhood from the clan of Quraish and other enemies till the day he died. He was also a leader and head of the clan of Banu Hashim. He was also the father of Imam Ali who is the successor of Prophet Mohammad. Abu Talib means Father of Talib. His real name was Imran and was known as Abu Talib because he had a son name Talib.
both were pagans, but they had died when prophet mohammad (swt) was at a young age. afterwich he was left with his uncle.
It was Abdul Muttalib (his grandfather), who first took care after him, after prophets parents died, when Abdul Muttalib died, his Uncle Abi Talib took care of him even though he was not a muslim.
If you mean Ali the causin and the companie of the prophet Muhammed, than his father is Abu Talib the uncle of the prophet Muhammed.
Prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAW had nine uncles.
after the death of his parents, his grandfather, abdul muttalib , raised the prophet. after his death, his uncle abu talib took over his charge..:)
The first wife of the holy Prophet (SAW) and his Uncle Abu Talib both died during this year.
Hamza ibn 'Abdul-Muttalib[b.568-d.625] was the paternal uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and his foster-brother. He was indeed one of the early people to follow Islam and support Muhammad PBUH.
The real name of Abu Talib is Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib. He was the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad and a prominent figure in the Quraysh tribe of Mecca. Abu Talib is known for his protection and support of Muhammad during the early years of his prophethood.
