In the past, slidden has been used in appropriate irregular past participle adjective. Slud was experimentally used for a while, especially by Dizzy Dean, a 1930's Baseball announcer. He claimed that it meant slid "with great effort." In keeping with today's modern English, the correct wording would be were slid. As in: The books were slid to the side of the table.
