What are differences between male and female Parrot fish?

The swordtail I'm thinking of is a member of the livebreeding family Poecilidae which also includes guppies, mollies and platies. The easiest way to tell is by the shape of the anal fin. These fish produce live young. They practise internal fertilisation, and the male puts his sperm inside the female by use of a penis-like organ known as a gonopodium. This is next to the vent, just behind the pectoral fins. Males and females have pectoral fins that look much the same, but the anal fin of the female hangs down in a large triangle when she is relaxed (although it may tuck up to resemble a males when she is swimming.) The male's always looks the same (except during mating when it twists to the side) and it points backwards.

When mature, the males usually have brighter colors, and the females have a wider girth. However, gender is something of a moot point, because parrot cichlids are hybrids of unknown though likely African cichlid origin. Like other hybrid fish, they usually produce infertile eggs. In the few cases where the eggs are fertile, the fry do not always resemble the parents.

When the male is swimming he has a large fin fanning out on his back. the female doesn't, plus the male has a little flab on his belly this is used to pass sperm to a female.
