The animal life in Antarctica is primarily partly aquatic and use the ocean as a principle source of food. These include birds (gulls, penguins) and some mammals (several species of seal). There are entirely land based species of insects. The seas around the continent have diverse ocean ecosystems of fish seals and whales ans well as krill and plankton. Among sea going mammals the leopard seal and orca are the top predators.
On land there is not much representation of plants. These are limited to some fungi, moss and lichen. These would be found most prolifically near volcanic vents and would support both plant and insect life
Affect? Affect? Not affect- disaster!
There are several mountain chains in Antarctica, and you may be thinking of the Trans-Antarctic mountains.
They are called food chains.

Food Chains! :)
Food in Antarctica is generally called edible.
Food webs and food chains are mostly the same
All these animals' food chains are based in liquid water, which is always warmer than the ambient air around Antarctica.
The term used to describe food chains that overlap and intersect is called a food web. A food web consists of multiple food chains in an ecosystem.
overlapping food chains are called a food web.
no a food web is made up of many food chains
Emperor penguins are sea birds and make their homes in salt water, where they find their food chains. Emperor penguins breed on Antarctica's beaches, because there are no land predators there. You can find Emperor penguin breeding colonies on all of Antarctica's beaches -- all around the continent.
