What are the side effects of holy basil?

I have been taking Holy Basil for 3 months and have not noticed any negative side-effects. On the positive side, I have not had a single Asthma attack while on this herb. I started taking Holy Basil in pill form as a way to reduce asthma symptoms in the winter.

My doctor had been prescribing a steroid inhaler which I found unbearable, but after repeated requests (two years) to change my medication he kept insisting I continue taking it. Last winter, in preparation for my seasonal asthma and allergy episodes, I decided to give Holy Basil a try hoping that would reduce my symptoms and reduce the amount of steroids I would have to take. I was thrilled when I realized that I made it through the winter without a single asthma attach. This is amazing considering that I have been asthmatic for six years and have been dealing with highly unpleasant side-effects of using a steroid inhaler.
