Sorry this question was vandalized. They will start to look discolored, (not to be confused with minor color shade changing.) They will be less active, not eat much, have irregular feces, and have a major discoloration.
Force your fecal matter to hold a crayon, then hold a gun to it's head and give it a coloring book. I've done it before - your feces will color up a storm.
Small rodents may occassionally eat their own faeces as their digestive system is not as effective in extracting all the nutrients.
