In a 60 gallon tank, my royal gramma chased my firefish incessantly, so I wouldn't recommend it. I also think that the color pattern of the bicolor blenny and the royal gramma (dark front half, light back half) would trigger some territorial issues, also.
Purple firefish, also known as Pterophyllum scalare, typically have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years in captivity when provided with proper care, including a suitable tank environment, balanced diet, and regular maintenance. In the wild, their lifespan may be shorter due to predation and environmental factors. With ideal conditions, some individuals can even live up to 20 years.
"You can remove the hiding places from your aquarium" Isnt that a little harsh? It will probably get very stressed if I did that. Any more help?
Firefish, also known as lionfish, have few natural predators due to their venomous spines and striking appearance. However, larger fish such as groupers and moray eels are known to prey on them in their native habitats. In some regions, particularly where lionfish have become invasive, species like triggerfish and certain types of sharks may also target them. Their unique adaptations make them less vulnerable to predation overall.
