If you buy the Business Key from the Black Market, you can access the sales without having to pass Riding Level 2, so, if you had the money, you could buy a unicorn. Other than that, there is no way to gain access to the sales, and so no way to buy a unicorn, without passing riding level 2. Unicorns cannot be "made" with Black Market items, or produced without breeding two unicorns of the same breed, so you have to buy your first one.
