it's a reletively small snake, growing up to about 3 feet long. colourful, often in shades of red or orange, and they are not friendly snakes. bites are not dangerous but are painful. corn snakes are popular pets despite their hostile nature
The record needs to be set straight. Corn snakes are one of the most docile, they are friendly and not in least bit hostile. They are easy to care for (not requiring humidity controls etc), quite hardy and due to their pleasant nature are one of the best snakes for a beginner.
I personally have never been bitten by a Corn and nobody that I know has either so cannot comment on the pain aspect of any bite, but seriously these snakes are small and the bite will be less infectious (because of bacteria etc) than a cat bite would be.
