A hermit is a person that keeps to themselves and does not live with others. They tend to be loners. The Hermit Crab is named that way because they live alone in a shell that was not theirs to begin with. They find an empty shell and move in. Kind of lika a squatter who moves into an abandoned house away from others.
Means the crab hides in his shell and doesn't play with the other crabs.
It is a sign of insecurity and or tiredness
It means that it found a better one. Which means it has grown and needs a bigger shell.
It means the crab has outgrown its shell home and is looking for a bigger one. You can find more shells at most pet stores.
there are many species of hermit crab which one do you mean?the common hermit crabs species is bernhardus
Do you mean the scientific name? Land hermit crabs fall under the genus Coenobita and the most common crab is the species Clypeatus.
they don't like each other and want to get away from each other.
If you mean will it kill the crab, no. However the hermit crab probably won't be able to use most toys. Depending on what it is.
Hermit crabs are nocturnal, so it sounds like your hermit must have gone to sleep. Mine has slept for a week, once! If you get home and you find your hermit crab out of it's shell and looking see-through, then it has molted. Hermits usually molt on their 'birthday' but stay in their shells a while prior to molting.
Not necessarily. Hermit crab do spend some time sitting to destress or simply take a nap. If a hermit crab is completely unresponsive it may be a number of problems but first check your humidity and temperature as they can be early culprits of inactivity.
It just means the hermie like the smaller one better, no harm done, when it gets bigger it will just move out don't worry
its dead!!!
