Invertebrates are the garden pests that eat cantaloupe. The edibles in question (Cucumis melo) attracts particularly such garden insect pests as:

  • aphids (especially melon and peach), armyworm moth caterpillars;
  • cucumber beetles, crickets, cutworm moth caterpillars;
  • darkling beetles, dried-fruit beetles;
  • earwigs;
  • flea beetles;
  • grasshoppers;
  • leafhoppers, leafminers, lister beetles, looper moth caterpillars;
  • pickleworm moth caterpillars;
  • seed corn maggots, squash bugs, squash vine borers, stink bugs;
  • thrips;
  • whiteflies, wireworms (click beetle larvae).
But they also prove irresistible to arachnids such as spider mites, molluscs such as slugs and snails, and worms such as root knot nematodes.
