male or female
No, an embryo's gender cannot be changed after it is conceived. The gender of a person is determined at the moment of conception based on the combination of sex chromosomes inherited from the parents.
About 14-15 weeks into pregnancy the fetus is about 9cm long so it was conceived 12-13 weeks ago.
No. The gender is not related to the relationship of the parents.

gender is determined at the moment of conception, however it isn't until around the 16th to the 17th week of pregnancy that the sex of the fetus can be determined by ultasound.
When the sperm meets the egg. The sprem contains the gender in the form of an x or y chromosome
There are many old wives tales that predict the gender of a fetus. It is said that if you carry low that you are having a boy, of if you crave sweets you are having a girl. Sometimes these methods are right and at times they are not.
it may be possible to tell the baby's gender at the 20 week ultrasound but then it just depends what position the baby is lying in.
It would be unlikely for it to have a great deal of influence.
the man decides the sex of the baby by his spern when concieveing
Is it moral to abort an embryo/fetus based solely on gender?
I knew I was having a boy at 14 weeks. It's all dependent on how your baby is positioned. My sister wasn't able to tell what her first kid was because she (the fetus) had her legs crossed during the ultrasound. :-) It's also a lot easier (for obvious reasons) to tell if it's a boy than if it's a girl. I found out that I was having a boy at 15 weeks!!!! But it just depends on how the baby cooperates with the ultrasound tech. The earliest a doctor will have a radiologist determine gender is about 12 weeks. Most wait until week 16 through week 20. Determining gender by radiology is not an exact science. A fetus could be in a position where it is difficult to see the genitals. Your radiologist may attempt to coax the fetus into another position where it is more visible. You could also consume something containing sugar, such as juice, (no caffeine!) which will make the fetus somewhat more active. Amniocentesis, if you must have one completed, is fool-proof in determining gender of the fetus through chromosomal testing.
