Answer: It is eaten by the shedder for calcium to harden the new shell. The parts that remain (if uneaten) are quickly moved away from the lobsters' burrow so as NOT to attract predators. Other sea creatures will quickly consume shedded lobster shells, so you will never find a shedded lobster exoskelaton on the beach.
