A minocot, more commonly referred to as a monocot, is a type of flowering plant characterized by having a single seed leaf, or cotyledon, in its seeds. Monocots typically exhibit parallel leaf venation, floral parts in multiples of three, and vascular bundles scattered throughout the stem. Examples of monocots include grasses, lilies, and orchids. This group contrasts with dicots, which have two seed leaves and different floral and structural characteristics.
