As I understand it,, it is basically bread ( torn into smallish pieces), sugar a little bit of butter with Boiled milk poured over (just cover the bread). Leave to stand for a few minutes and you have a gloppy mix.

I always have bovril sop which is bread (torn into smallish pieces), salt pepper, butter, as much bovril as you wish, boiling water. fill to just covering the bread, cover and leave, mix well and add more water is required. Its an aquired taste but I was brought up on it.
