Poultry breeding is the act of pairing birds so that they lay eggs that will hatch the next generation of bird. Breeders pair the birds for specific reasons, to raise a breed of bird that lays eggs better than average, to raise birds that have more meat than the average bird, to raise birds breeds specifically meant for show or to keep a certain breeds of rare birds pure and going so that it does not become extinct.

Husbandry is a word rarely used today. Starting in the 14th century it was the word used for "farm management". Today people refer to poultry raising or poultry production instead of poultry husbandry, but it all means the same thing.
