The main problem in the story "Tangerine" is the toxic environment in Paul's new school, where corruption, discrimination, and bullying are rampant. The resolution comes as Paul stands up to those perpetuating these issues and finds his voice to speak out against them, ultimately leading to some form of justice and change within the school.

He moves to this house with his mother, father, and his attention craving brother Erik, but little does Paul know is that this town has many secrets.
Many things happen in the novel, Tangerine, by Edward Bloor. At one point, a high school football player is killed by lightening. In another part of the book, a section of one of the classrooms falls into a sinkhole that opens up in the ground. Also, one of the main characters, Paul, ends up getting expelled from school for attacking the coach.
