Hermit crabs need a temperature between 70-85 degrees F since they are tropical animals. They also have modified gills which means that they need to have humidity around 70-80%, or else they will suffocate. Also hermit crabs are very social so you should at least get two of them, hermies are known to die when isolated for a long period of time from other hermies. Hermit crabs love to dig so include coconut fiber substrate, or sand (even a mixture between the two!) which should be twice as deep as your largest hermit crab. With your hermit crab should be hiding places as well as climbing places, try using chola wood or a coconut half shell. Hermit crabs will need distilled and salt water dishes. The salt water should NEVER be table salt, use SEA salt, or a hermit crab conditioner to treat the water.

I'm no expert, but I believe that you cannot get real diseases o sicknesses from things that are not of your own species. You may get sick taking care of them, however, because of the bacteria living near and in them.
Let your hermit crab craw on your shirt but hold your hands under just in case they fall. Build a park for your hermit crab. Pile books clothes and other things it can climb on. Let your hermit crab craw on your hand and when he or she gets to the edge turn your hand. That's great exercise for your hermit crab. Buy another hermit crab to play with yours and so your doesn't get lonely. Hope this helps. Search me on instagram as aidan312
The hermit crab would be endangered, and use other things to protect its abdomen, such as bottles, washed up shells, and other things they could find. So they would be more open to predators.
Hermit crabs are nocturnal, and so they are out of their tanks at night, sometimes I wake up in middle of night and look at them, and there they are on the climbing things. I wake up and it looks like they have never been there.
No, things decompose only when they are dead. A hermit crab out of a shell can still survive, but it is vulnerable to predator attack and from the environment until they find a new shell that fits.
