It is a Ionic bond. Knowing that covalent bons only arise between non-metals. and Na(is a metal atom) and Cl forming together creates an Ionic bond which can arise between a non metal and a metal. Also, NaCl is a salt soluble in water (: where as silver chloride isn't I have noticed that question is fairly common among teachers (: answer with confidence!
