• Louis Lassen - sold hamburger and steak sandwiches from his lunch wagon, Louis' Lunch in 1895 in New Haven, Connecticut.
• Oscar Weber Bilby - sold hamburger sandwiches on buns at Weber's Root Beer Stand in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1891.
• Bert W. Gary - sold ground beef sandwiches his butcher Ail Wahl named "hamburgers," from his cafe near the Courthouse Square in Clarinda, Iowa in 1901 (or 1902 - Mr. Gray was uncertain when he started).
• Walter Anderson (co-founder of White Castle) - credited with inventing the bun specifically for hamburgers in 1916.
