Where was Chinese dumplings invented?

It was invented during the last year of China's Han Dynasty by a Chinese doctor name "Chang Zhong Jin". Original intend is to add in some anti-cold medication inside the wrapping and he passed the cooked dumplings out to the poor and sick in that region. Ironically, everyone was well after eating the dumpling thus it became a popular dish to eat. Chinese like to eat dumpling during Chinese New Year's eve when family members gather around to wait for the count down. It's another way to celebrate Chinese New Year. In the past, some Chinese even wrap a "lucky" coin inside the dumpling, whoever had the "lucky" dumpling with the coin inside is suppose to be the "LUCKY" person as the new year unfolds.

They were possibly invented in China.

While I do not know the answer to this question and cannot dispute the previous answer "china," one should consider the fact that many foods were not invented in the same way as the diesel engine was.

Or, maybe these inventions are similar. Combustion engines, telephony, electric light, calculus, and many other inventions sprung up in more than one location pretty much at the same time. The conditions were right, the time was ripe for certain things to happen at certain times.

I suspect the idea of combining starch with egg and simmering it in water may not have been invented in one single place and exported from there, although historians may have identified the first record of dumpling making. This is what might justify the claim that dumplings are of a Chinese invention, but presumably, the first known Chinese dumplings were based on a similar preparation, itself much older and possibly found in another part of the world.

I'm about 95% sure chinese dumplings were invented in China ( I think...)
