Angelo Genessio Poppatelli accidentally left his mayonnaise and anchovy Pizza on the back porch one January night. In the morning, a band of squirrels had raided the pizza box and made a pagan sacrifice of it, with little altars around the yard. However, one tidbit remained and Angelo popped it into his mouth. YUM! He was hit with an idea -- why not leave pizza outside all night on purpose? This was the origin of Pizza Pops, but along the way they were mass-produced and wrapped in nice little cellophane packages. Inventions are often made by accident.
