The Cocoa Bean (main ingredient of modern chocolate) was found by Mesoamerican civilizations at about 1500 BC. But chocolate as we know today was not discovered until Christopher Columbus brought Cocoa Beans to Europe in the early 1500s. Then (100 years later), many Europeans spread it across the continent. In 1674 it was made for cakes and rolls. But the inventor of the chocolate bar as we know today was dicovered by Joseph Fry. Fry invented a machine that grinds the bean which became the next major step in the history of chocolate. This was in 1847. And from then on Chocolate slowly had more flavors and nuts and different styles until it was chocolate as we know today.
