The USDA labels and ceritifies any food that has been grown naturally without the use of any pesticides or other chemicals. It is unlikely that these factors are monitored thoroughly. Anything grown under these circumstances is considered to be 'organic'. It is considered that anything organic is healthier for the sole fact that many, many crops of both vegetables and fruits are essentially chemically poisoned by gene altering procedures to make them grow faster.
