Erm, no, though a common misconception. The reason behind this weird (WEIRD.) shape is for visual purposes. The eyes are at the ends, and since the eyes are evolved far apart, the Sharks have a 360° view of their surroundings- the perfect tool for a predator.

The hammerhead shark needs to keep swimming to breathe. The Hammerhead's head shape is actually shaped the way it is so that it can help keep the shark above the ocean floor. That helps the shark maintain a constant swim so that it can continue to breathe so that it does not drown.

That's how God made them. No geneticist has EVER yet been able to show a mutation that codes for a hammerhead or even a mutation that can generate a shark from ANY OTHER type of animal. Therefore, the way we see them now is how they were created. There are variations in color and different genus of sharks produced from breeding. No one has shown a radical head shape and differing eye placement and speciallized ampullae arrangement as the results of a mutation.
