They don't go crazy, they just enjoy them because of the flavor and the texture. Oats are used as treats they are not usually in a horses balanced diet. Hay, grass, and grain are the most common foods for a horse, and water of course is always good. You should reward a horse if not often then every once in a while for what they do right, and oats are a good choice.
