This is because water vapour from the hot soup will rise up to the cool surface of the cling wrap and condense on the surface beneath the cling wrap. When too much water molecules condense on the surface of the cling wrap, it will feel heavier and immediately soaked into the bowl of hot soup.

This can be represented or exampled by the daily water cycle. If too much of water evaporation takes place, there will be more clouds. The clouds will become heavier as more water vapour condenses and thus, it rains.
