Why doesn't my hamster like being picked up?

when you first bought a hamster it will be scared cause it have not know you yet you can try and tame your hamster if you want but just be careful not to scare them its not that easy cause I tryed to tame my hamster and I found it kinda hard

Hamsters make wonderful pets. I have two syrian boys [kept apart, obviously] and they are joys to keep. They are cute, intelligent, playful and clean [my boys are both toilet-trained] and don't need much attention during the day, although you need to be prepared to give a 15-minute cuddle every evening.

It may have been scared nervous or maybe even felt threatened. So leave it be for a while and it should be fine. Just remember, ALWAYS be careful around hamsters!

when your hamster shows signs of fear when you put your hand in its cage, it usually means that you have not correctly trained it to not be afraid of humans. You need to make sure that when your hamster is a baby it gets used to your hand and YOU. it is usually more difficult to make a hamster used to you when it is older, so make sure that you get it used to you when it is a baby. If you haven't yet, it will definitely be a difficult task to accomplish.

If your hamster is scared of you should maybe give it a little time to settle down and maybe get a treat for him/her and see if they come over to your hand and eat it. Or if you don't know why your hamster is scared and if it isn't of you maybe just take him/her and gently stroke it and see if it settles down then.

Some hamsters dont like being picked up because they feel scared.Maybe try to get your hamster used to be picking up but dont pick him up too much .
