well there could be many reasons like the pH level could be messed up or the type of fish cannot live in ponds or you have had a fish dat has been inside for a wile and u put it in a pond shock will kill it or if you are just putting the fish in the water without putting it in a bag to let the temperature ajust or it could be nitrate or murky water that is hard for them to breath in or a disease goldfish are the best for ponds
