It's called the law of diminishing returns...
The ancient Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Aztecs and the Mayans, are credited with inventing chocolate. They consumed cacao beans in a bitter drink long before it was sweetened and turned into the chocolate we know today.
No. Chocolate was first consumed as a drink by the ancient peoples of Mexico. It was never smoked.
The ancient Natives of South and Central America (Mayas, Aztecs, Incas, ect.) were the first to discover, harvest, and use the cocoa bean as chocolate.

Chocolate has been around for millions of years. It was first harvested in Mexico, as Cacao. It was originally consumed as a drink, and not until YEARS later developed into a solid, as in the candy bars, today. You can purchase chocolate in several forms: Cocoa Powder, Unsweetened Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and "White Chocolate". Milk Chocolate is/has been the most widely consumed. However, with recent studies showing the benefits of Dark Chocolate on health it is being consumed far more than in the past. "White Chocolate" isn't really chocolate, at all, because it does not contain cocoa solids. It only contains cocoa butter. As far as the most popular brand worldwide, is Mars-Wrigley from the United States, followed by the Cadbury company in Great Britain.
