A dog feels heat through it's nose and the pads on its feet. I wet my shitzu all the time and it hasn't bothered her at all. I have done it every summer for the past three years

If a dog is very hot it's important to cool them down (not in icy water) but tepid water (body temperature.) I have simply put my two small dogs in the bath tub and used the shower head to cool them off, then pat dry and they are in heaven! LOL Often my husband and I will take them to the 'doggie beach' to swim at Buntzen Lake and it's a field day. I joke and make a picnic out of it and call it a 'doggie picnic.' I own a part Bichon Frize female and a make Cockapoo and both love the water. It's important to keep your dog cool and out of the heat.
