Some women get yeast infection from using perfumed soap/shower gel, wearing tight undergarments like thongs, not keeping your vagina dry (if you have normal discharge it is better to wear a liner), others get it from using flavoured condoms and sometimes you can get it from your partner if he has it.

If you are pregnant and have a yeast infection you can take one of the over the counter yeast medications for it...after consulting with your Dr. The yeast infection can cause thrush in the unborn child if not taken care of properly...also do not have intercourse as you can pass it to your partner(yes girls he can get it, but without the symptoms)and he will just pass it back to you in return... otherwise it shouldn't really affect the pregnancy except that it is uncomfortable. Make sure to wear cotton lined panties and change them often..or wear natural panty liners...not synthetic ones. If you drink a lot of caffeine this also can make it worse. I am really not sure how it affects the pregnancy, but I do know my doctor told me that if you get more than one yeast infection during pregnancy it can be an indication that you have Strep B (which requires antibiotics be given during labor).
