I believe that Federigo's actions illustrate the foolishness of love because he repeatedly kept trying to please a woman who could never love him. To lose everything you own for someone who isn't impressed by what you're doing or doesn't know whom you you'd get the hint, but Federigo did not. Therefore this makes him foolish.
