The U.S. did not print any $20 bills with that date. 1950 and 1963 are the only dates even remotely near 1957. You may be confusing it with $1 bills that were printed with that series date.
In any case it's perfectly normal for older bills to not have the motto. It was only added to $1 bills in the late 1950s and to higher denominations in the 1960s.
