After that reload the game to where you saved before you battled Archie. not sure what is behind the boxes but on the GBA game you need to get en e reader and plug it into ur GB. all it probaly is something stupid like battling someone or a special Pokemon just to get you to buy a stupid e reader you will probaly use only once to get beyond the boxes.

ahh i was stuck here too for awhile heres what you do friend,get a Pokemon that knows cut and then just walk right up to the door (make sure your facing it) and go to your Pokemon list and click on the Pokemon to use cut and it will cut the dotted door to dust which has a gem for the trade machine.
