you need two batteries double a batteries at the side of your game boy colour then trow a pokemon ball at the trainers pokemon
If you really want to, use your masterball because it never fails. Masterball fails on other peoples Pokemon. I learnt from my mistakes... you cant catch trainers Pokemon it wont work with any type of poke ball(it would've been cool if you can catch trainers Pokemon though=)

Be it walking in tall grass, fishing, surfing, walking in caves, or head butting trees. To CATCH a Pokemon you need to use a pokeball, these are located in your inventory. To catch them more with more ease, Lower the Pokemon's heath but do not kill it. Make it asleep, frozen, or paralyzed to increase the success rate of the catch. Also using the right Pokemon ball will help increase the chances as well. the lowest and cheapest Pokemon ball is effective to a point.
