No. To activate a spell card from hand, there must be a slot available on the field. The card is activated and is placed face-up in the S/T zone, even if it will be going straight to the graveyard when the chain resolves.

How do you know if spell cards are or quick play spell cards?

A Quick-play Spell card has a little jagged symbol after the words ''Spell Card'.

How do you use a Quick-play Spell?

During your turn, you can play a Quick-play Spell from your hand during Main Phase I or II. During your opponent's turn, you can activate it only if it is already Set on your field. Like all Spells, you play a Quick-play Spell in the Magic & Trap Card Zone. When played, its effect is activated immediately like most other card effects.

Can you play a Spell card without using its effect?

No, if you activate a Spell card, you abide by the effect(s) stated on the card and carry them out.

Yugioh Can a quick play magic such as mystical space typhoon be used on a normal magic card suchas heavy storm or can a counter trap only be used against it?

Yes, but make sure the counter trap card says it can counter a magic card (or whatever else you want to counter). Same for quick play spell cards, but mystical space typhoon wouldn't work because mystical space typhoon only says that it destroys 1 spell or trap card on the field. It does NOT say that it negates the effect.

What are the effects of 'Spell Shattering Arrow'?

"Light of the Living Arrow" is also known as "Spell Shattering Arrow".The actual (as opposed to the anime version) card effect states:Destroy all face-up Spell cards your opponent controls. For each destroyed Spell card, inflict 500 damage to your opponent. This card will only destroy face-up Spells and cannot be activated until your opponent has a face-up Spell card. However, since this is a Quick Play Spell card, if your opponent activates a Spell card you can chain to its effect with this card. When the chain resolves, your opponent's Spell will be destroyed, they will lose 500 Life Points, and then your opponent's Spell card's effect takes place. This card, like "Mystical Space Typhoon", cannot actually negate card effects. However, if this card is chaining to the effect of a Continuous Spell (i.e. Continuous, Equip, and Field Spell cards), when the chain resolves, that Spell card's effect disappears.

Can you activate a Quick-play Spell Card from your hand?

You can only do so in your turn. You may do so during Main Phase like a normal Spell Card. You can also do so to start a Chain. For example, if your monster attacked and your opponent activated Mirror Force, you can Chain My Body as a Shield from your hand. If you plan to activate a Quick-play Spell Card during your opponent's turn, however, you must Set your Quick-play Spell Card during your Main Phase.

Can a Spell Card have more than one icon?

No. It wouldn't make any sense to have a "Quick-Play Field Spell" for example.

In yugioh does playing a quick play spell card end your battle phase?

No, it doesn't end the battle phase.

Can a Trap card have more than one icon?

Every Spell or Trap card can have only one icon. For examples, an Equip Spell can't be a Quick-play, and a Counter Trap can't be Continuous.

Quick-play Spell cards are Spell Speed 2, so are the same speed as all Trap cards except for Counter Trap cards which are Spell Speed 3.
