What can you do in milford sound?

Milford Sound itself is one end of the famous Milford Track - a 3-day walk through very grand mountain and bush country. At the sound, there are day boat tours of the Sound, and longer cruises of New Zealand's Fiordland available by routine charter. Kayaking and fishing are also on offer. The very steep mountains, carved by glacier from granites, offer superb rock climbing on sound rock, and many of the peaks (Tutoko, Madeline, etc) offer high grade climbs. Tutoko is about 8km from the coast and is approaching 2800m, so the country gradient is steep - and grand. Usual access is by road or by air from Te Anau township.
