Not really. Shikamaru killed the member of akatsuki that killed his teacher by himself. Naruto came at the end to save his friends.

Tell you about shikamiru in Naruto Shippuden?
In Naruto Shippuden, Shikamaru is his usual lazy self. However; he is a jonin now and is showing a vague sign of liking Temari. Naruto even remarks about them being on a date. Later on, his sensei, Asuma, dies on the battlefield. This causes Team 10, and Kakashi as their squad leader, to immediately go avenge their fallen teacher. It isn't easy, and Naruto comes to aid them later on. Shikamaru brilliantly seperates the two Akatsuki members, and takes on the one who killed Asuma. His name is Hidan, and he is immortal. Kakashi, Ino, and Choji are left to fight the other, Kakuzu, who is also immortal. Anyway, Shikamaru tricks Hidan into a trap full of paper bombs, and uses Asuma's lighter to set it aflame. After it's all said and done, he takes up the habit of smoking. Time skip to the war - I have not really read up on Shikamaru. All I remember is Asuma was reanimated which resulted in Team 10 having to fight him. It was only hard for Choji, until he shaped up and finished the job. Later on, Shikamaru's father dies, as does Ino's. They are killed by the Ten Tails. Recently, Shikamaru was in a dying state, that is until Sakura arrived and healed him. Now, he's under a genjutsu, as is everyone else.. (excluding team 7), and is dreaming.
