Where was Rudyard Kipling born?

He was born in Bombay (now called Mumbai) in late December 1865. His parents courted in Staffordshire at a place called Rudyard Lake. His mother's two sisters were married to Edward Burne-Jones and Edward Poynter, both renowned painters of their time, and Stanley Balwin, Prime Minister of Great Britain was his first cousin. He was sent to Southsea at the age of five, for six years to live and be educated in England and suffered cruel bullying and neglect at the hands of the boarding house owners. When his mother eventually visited from India she discovered the brutal treatment meted out to her son and, to a lesser degree, to her daughter 'Trix' and removed them immediately. He was not considered academically good enough to attend Oxford University, so his father got him a job in Lahore, India (now in Pakistan). He wrote many short stories and much poetry both in India and in England and was the first English Language writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907, still the youngest ever recipient.
