Sherlock Holmes never married. But he was certainly respectful of Irene Adler's abilities and admired her. Holmes "never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer." Holmes preferred a life of pure intellect, devoid of emotion. As to Irene Adler -- the only woman to beat Holmes -- he would never use her name and referred to her only as "The woman". She married Godfrey Norton with Holmes in disguise as a witness.in the second movie "the game of shadows" she dies as professor James kills her when he thinks that she can be of no use to him

Sherlock Holmes didn't take a fancy to women though he was engaged to Charles Augustus Milverton's maid, and, then, only to aid in solving the case. He criticizes women's intellect until he has an encounter with Irene Adler -- the only woman to beat Holmes -- whom he referred to as "The Woman". He was certainly respectful of Irene Adler's abilities and admired her, but they never married. Dr. Watson had hoped that Holmes would take a liking to Violet Hunter in 'The Copper Beeches,' but he did not. Holmes stated that he felt involvement with a woman would awaken the passions -- a bad thing in upper crust Victorian England's thought, and especially in Holmes' philosophy. Holmes preferred a life of pure intellect, devoid of emotion.

Holmes retired to the country and raised bees as a hobby. In many of the alternate-universe (spin-off) Holmes stories written by other authors, Holmes marries or has a love affair. One of the better series which marries Holmes off is a mystery series by Laurie King, which begins with the book The Beekeeper's Apprentice.

He definitely wasn't a ladies' man though he was engaged to Charles Augustus Milverton's housemaid. At the end of 'The Adventure of the Copper Beeches,' Watson writes "As to Miss Violet Hunter, my friend Holmes, rather to my disappointment, manifested no further interest in her when once she had ceased to be the centre of one of his problems."

However, his "female enemy" was Irene Adler, although in the new Sherlock on BBC they actually 'flirt'. Well, Irene does, anyway. Irene was basically a mirrored version of Sherlock, but as a woman. She outsmarted him twice.

"She was first featured in Doyle's "A Scandal in Bohemia". She is one of the most notable female characters in the Sherlock Holmes series, despite appearing in only one story, and is frequently used as a romantic interest for Holmes in derivative works. According to "A Scandal in Bohemia," Adler was born in New Jersey in 1858. She followed a career in opera as a contralto, performing in La Scala, Milan, Italy, and a term as prima donna in the Imperial Opera of Warsaw, Poland, indicating that she was an extraordinary singer (in reality, there was no Imperial Opera in Warsaw). It was there that she became the lover of Wilhelm Gottsreich Sigismond von Ormstein, Grand Duke of Cassel-Felstein and King of Bohemia, who was staying in Warsaw for a period. The King describes her as "a well-known adventuress" and also says that she had "the face of the most beautiful of women and the mind of the most resolute of men". Sherlock obviously agreed. The king eventually returned to his court in Prague. Adler, then in her late twenties, retired and moved to London.

In "The Five Orange Pips", Holmes mentions that he has been beaten four times, thrice by a man and once by a woman. Since "The Five Orange Pips" is set in September 1887, before "A Scandal in Bohemia", which is set in March 1888, Holmes could not be referring to the specific appearance of Irene Adler during "A Scandal in Bohemia" if the chronology is correct. Doyle had made clear chronological mistakes in other Holmes stories, and no other woman to be held in the same regard by Holmes or to have beaten Holmes is ever mentioned. Also, in "A Case of Identity", Watson mentions that Adler is the only person he has ever known to have beaten Holmes.

The beginning of "A Scandal in Bohemia" describes the high regard in which Holmes held Adler:To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer - excellent for drawing the veil from men's motives and actions. But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results. Grit in a sensitive instrument, or a crack in one of his own high-power lenses, would not be more disturbing than a strong emotion in a nature such as his. And yet there was but one woman to him, and that woman was the late Irene Adler, of dubious and questionable memory."

That was from Wikipedia. It's clear that Holmes is very fond of her, so your answer would technically be yes.

She was always The Woman to Holmes. He admired her intellect and how she was able to best him. She was as good with disguise as he was.
