Depends on which time you mean. At the beginning of the Games, Haymitch says to get away from the Cornucopia ASAP, knowing it would turn into a bloodbath. When Peeta falls ill, then it is understood without saying that Katniss should keep up the facade of star-crossed lovers, so she goes.

Because it was a bloodbath and there were weapons and goodies piled all around it in order to try and draw the tributes into it and the first casualties of the Games are always done by the Bloodbath, which can sometimes last for hours and sometimes even wipe out half of all the tributes

Katniss runs to the Cornucopia because she sees a weapon (specifically: a bow and a quiver of arrows) that she needs and knows was placed in the arena just for her. She also realized that Haymitch did not get a chance to see all of her skills. Haymitch didn't get to see her run, and she was firm in the belief that she could run quickly. She also realized that she would have little chance of coming back, and that she would need supplies in order to survive.
