Maybe you should ask his three wives, his seven children and numerous grandchildren, or the scores of women he had relationships with. There were a lot of closet gays in the Hollywood of yesteryear but John Wayne was not one of them. He never showed any interest in any of the same sex except as a drinking buddy.

He would not be operating (Alongside) say Gina Lollobrigida or Sophia Loren, though it is claimed he like Latin women. Seemed to preoccupied with violent action to have time to sweet-talk the Gals. One should try to separate the screen persona with the real man. He was married three times and did have children, but... I have heard this argument. It was also somewhat subtly suggested about the title character ( Not played by Wayne) of the movie Patton. There was no love interest in that film. Flash in the pan? ( pun intended) adjust spatter shield!

∙ 12y agoHe did have relationships with women between marriages of which there were three. Did he have affairs while married, he did have at least one, Pat Stacey. His secretary and Wayne became involved before his split with third wife Pilar. If there were others I have not heard of them.

∙ 12y agoWayne had strong feelings on many subjects and did not hesitate to give voice to those opinions, but he was in no way a bigot. He would take offense though for unpatriot acts such as flag burning or draft dogding.
