Indirectly, though he is powerless and even vulnerable in Red-Sun worlds such as his now-extinct Krypton. He has no reason to recharge his batteries so to speak, but on some occasions does welcome an energizing sunburst in the weather. The Hanna-Barbera superhero Birdman, however directly derived his powers from the Sun and bad guys knew this, and tried to use shadow-rays ( a contradiction in terms, unless they used Ultra-Violet strobe lights.)

∙ 9y agoThe sun. It's earths red sun that gives Superman his strength - that's why when the Zod got the same powers when he came to earth. On Krypton, Superman was a norma "man".
Superman's energy and powers come from the radiation emitted by a yellow star. so in essence, he gets it from the sun.
