Some of the differences are:

  • Cinderella lived with her stepmother who despised her. Belle lived with her father who adored her.
  • Cinderella talked to mice, Belle talked to inanimate objects.
  • Cinderella was more of a dreamer and wished for a prince. Belle was more a girl who wanted adventure more than anything.
  • Belle and the Beast got to know each other before falling in love, where Cinderella and her Prince didn't know each other for more than a few hours.
  • Cinderella is supposedly 17, Belle is 19.
  • Belle found the beauty within, other than what was on the outside.
  • Belle did not fall for the town "hottie"

I love both these girls so much and am not trying to make one sound better than the other. These are just what I have gathered from the movies. Overall, these girls are different due to the different time eras they were characterized, making the movies quite different.

Chinese Cinderella is an autobiography of Adeline Yen Mah, an unwanted daughter, meaning that Adeline has written the book on her life. While Cinderella is a fairy-tale, it is a made up story, written by Brothers Grimm.

When Adeline's father remarried he had two children with Niang, and when Cinderella's farther remarried he didn't have children with Cinderella's stepmother.

Cinderella gets punished by having to clean the whole house by her self, waxing the floors, dusting the shelfs, vacuuming, etc. However on the other hand, Adeline goes to boarding school away from her family and most importantly her aunt Baba.
