Do most Digimon who DigiXros with Starmon merely wield the Star Sword?

Most of them indeed do that, but there's a reason.

Starmon and the different species of Pickmon work together in unison. He is the commander and the Pickmon are the troops, his techniques are basicaly giving orders and attack formations to his men and they act as an extension of each other. The power of the Starmon Corps comes from sheer numerical strength and alone they are nearly useless.

Their Digixros is no different, they are basically formations as well and different kinds of combinations between Starmon and Pickmon results in different weapons. It can be an axe, a flaming sword, an standard sword, a giant shuriken, among others. They have other formations like acting as an slingshot or a improvised helicopter, but their main use in Digixros is to be a shapeshifting weapon, but a tool will not attack on their own, it needs someone else to wield it in battle.
