Do the main characters ever die in the Harry Potter series?

Of course not all though a few of the characters die! IF U HAVE NOT READ THE 7TH Harry Potter DO NOT READ ON! Fred dies and Hedwig ( Harry's owl) dies and Snape dies and Lupin dies and Tonks dies and Harry dies then comes back to life, Crabbe dies, and Dumbledore dies, Bellatrix Lestrange dies, Dobby the free elf dies! So that is most of the people who die.

It depends on what you mean. If you mean Harry, Ron or Hermione; then no. None of them die.

Other characters such as Voldemort, Fred Weasley, Tonks, Professor Lupin, Dobby, Colin Creevey, Mad-Eye Moody, Cedric Diggory, Severus Snape, and Hedwig all die.

SPOILER ALERT: Cedric Diggory is killed by Peter Pettigrew with the killing curse, Dumbledore is knocked off a tower by Snape, Sirius is killed by the killing curse, and a lot of other characters are killed by Voldemort and his followers with the killing curse as well. Most causes of death are the killing curse by Voldemort and the death eaters.
