Not the power to remember, but its very opposite, the power to forget, is a necessary condition for our existence.

That being said, the long forgotten Emily Wirt is in fact still in existance;

making its presence known for the first time since the Precambian period in the late 1980's to early 1990's, it has since risen in power and influence again. Needless to say, Emily Wirt has become the same cultural phenomenon on a small scale in college towns as it was as a god-like inspiration to the cavemen so long ago.
