Rick has not seen the movie yet as of 2/17/10. He has been writing for a deadline recently and feels that the change in plot from the book to the movie is understandable: he says quote: "Its always tricky when you take a book and make it into a movie ... I know they have to make changes when they turn a book into a movie because movies are so much shorter and if they make page by page carbon copy of the book on the screen it would be like 16 hours long." Rick Riordan started with the Greek Mythology because his son had ADHD and Dyslexia. His son was upset, so Riordan began telling him stories about Percy and Greek mythology relating to his disorders to make him feel better. His son encouraged him to write the stories and share them.
