Barbara Streisand's dog is definitely a Bichon Frisé.Her dog is not groomed in the traditional Bichon design but clipped short and kept curly size, tail,eyes and face are Bichon Frisé. The motto of the American Bichon Frisé society is

"Once you have touched a Bichon Frisé you have touched a little bit of heaven." Barbra's dog is a Coton de Tulear which is a very rare breed that originally came from Madagascar. Her dog was a gift from James Brolin - not sure if it was before or after their wedding. More details: Country of Origin: Madagascar Group: Rare Use Today: Companion Color: Varies from white, white with champagne highlights and a dusting of black hairs, to white with a few yellow or gray patches. Barbra has a Bichon named Sammie who died then along came Samantha who happens to be white also but most definitely not a Bichon Frise. This is a breed not recognized by the American Kennel Club and the breed is in the Toy Group in the UK. Samantha is a "Coton De Tulear". Not easy to find one but there are US breeders.
